About Us
QSCC Safe Space in Coffman 205
Our mission is to…
- Celebrate the diversity and culture of the queer community.
- Educate the University of Minnesota community on issues pertinent to the lives of queer students.
- Advocate for inclusion and equality of all persons regardless of sexual or gender orientation.
- Provide a safe space for queer students to meet and form a sense of community.
- Empower queer individuals, groups, and organizations.
The Queer Student Cultural Center is a completely student-run group dedicated to helping those in the coming out, gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, genderqueer, intersex, and allied communities. It is an umbrella group for all of the various GLBTQIA-oriented student organizations on the University of Minnesota campus.
The QSCC offers a Safe Space, which allows queer- and ally-identified people the choice to be open about their sexual orientation or gender identification around others without fear of retribution or being "outed".
The QSCC believes safety, confidentiality, and respect are three important values, which it upholds each day. All those who attend the QSCC and its events remain completely anonymous unless they state that it is fine otherwise.
Newcomers are always welcome! The QSCC is a great way to meet new friends in the GLBTQIA community, especially if one is new to campus, one is in the coming out process, or if one has never met someone in the queer community but wants to!
The QSCC is made up of many various social groups, support groups, and planning committees. It also offers various programming events throughout the entire year. To learn more information about these groups and activities, click on their respective links to the left.
